ImpulseHack is mobile app designed to track an urge or an impulse in order to give the user complete control over a habit that they want to break. It can be used to track the urge to smoke when trying to quit, or to track the emotional impulse of pain, anxiety, or any other emotion. ImpulseHack will log three data points for the user: 1. the number of impulses per day 2. the duration of each impulse, and 3. the intensity of each impulse. The user will be able to see his or her progress over time laid out on the graph. Any habit is a series of impulses that when tracked will change effortlessly.

How to use ImpulseHack:

Open the app on your mobile device. A pop-up will appear giving you the choice to either track an urge-impulse (such as the craving to smoke or eat sugar) OR track a feeling-impulse (such as pain or anger if you are going through a grieving process). Once you have chosen which kind of impulse you will be tracking, you are ready to begin.
Click the [+] button on the bottom of the screen to log your impulse.
On the next screen, move the fader to log the length of your impulse, then hit NEXT STEP.
On the next screen, move the fader to log the intensity of your impulse. Notice that as you move the fader, a tone will play. The tone is designed as a pattern-interruptor for your urge. Hit DONE when you are finished.
To view the history of your impulses, open the first page of the app and hit VIEW FULL HISTORY at the top of the screen. You will be able to toggle between a graph of frequency and intensity.
There is an option to archive your results and reset your app so you can begin again. Click on VIEW FULL HISTORY at the top of the first screen. Click on the small filing drawer icon in the top right corner of your screen. A screen will pop up that will allow you to name your previous tracking data. Press ARCHIVE in the top right corner of the pop-up screen to save your data. Once you have saved your data, close and then reopen your app in order to start tracking your impulses from scratch.
